Entering the Czech Republic, you realize you are not in Kansas anymore. It changes immediately. Not in a bad way, but it is definitely a poorer country. What few road rules the Poles actually follow, the Czech’s flagrantly violate. In fact, I felt violated every minute I was on the road.<\/p>\n

Sedlec Ossuary, also known as the Church of Bones in Sedlec, in the Czech Republic, is estimated to contain the skeletons of between 40,000 and 70,000 people, whose bones have, in many cases, been artistically arranged to form decorations and furnishings for the chapel.<\/p>\n

The Ossuary is a really interesting find. It is actually the only real reason I am in this part of the Czech Republic, as it would have made more sense to go straight towards Romania instead of going a bit west first towards Prague. I am really not touring the Czech Republic or Hungary on this trip, but I will be making a few stops since I am here.<\/p>\n

I have been asked why I don’t add more of the back story or history of the places I visit. Well, when I am there I read all the cool info, but by the time I get around to writing the story I am sure I will lose at least some of the details. Frankly, by the time I write the story I can’t always remember what country the photos were taken in, much less the history.<\/p>\n

This ain’t the Ossuary. This is a town square in the first town I entered, Frydlant, Czechia. I was not letting my bike out of my sight until I got a feal for the country. Park in a square where vehicles are not allowed? Yup, I am on a bike so I am special. Quickly move bike a few meters after it almost gets hit by a car speeding across said vehiceless square? Yup.

A church down the road is also a UNESSCO site. Pretty interesting. Hard to get a good photo of the outside, but you can find it on-line or in my links.<\/p>\n

And a fountain in town. I sometimes just look at “Attractions” in google maps and sort by distance. Then pic one that looks interesting. Often, the stop is not very interesting, but the route to get there and back is very interesting. Such as this very old Gothic Stone Fountain.
